Pigs are known to be highly intelligent, but unfortunately, the majority of pigs worldwide suffer due to intensive farming practices. They are very social beings, preferring to live in larger, stable groups and form close bonds with each other.
They have an exceptional capacity for learning and their intelligence ranks higher than dogs and even some primates. Pigs tend to prefer cooler temperatures as in fact they cannot sweat, which is one of the reasons why they not only like but need to take mud baths on hot days to cool down.
In intensive pig farming, the animals are unable to engage in their natural behaviours. Instead, their crucial basic needs like grooming, social interaction, exploration, foraging, and nest-building are suppressed which causes severe physical and psychological harm.
