Premiere of Eating The Future
World Premiere of an award-winning documentary at the films for future festival
Eating the Future celebrated its world premiere on 19 November, 2024 at the Rote Fabrik in Zurich as part of the films for future festival. The viewing kicked off with our CEO Josef Pfabigan giving a speech. After watching the 46-minute-long movie, we held a round table. The discussion was moderated by Dominik Siegrist. Panellists included our FOUR PAWS expert on farmed animals Julia Fischer, the movie director and producer Katy Jenkyns from Wildlight Productions, and the Swiss cattle farmer Nils Müller, who appears in the film. The premiere was a great success as the venue was almost sold out and viewers were engaged in conversations after the screening and discussion.
Our story follows a young narrator which is voiced by Bafta-winning Mia McKenna-Bruce. By portraying various experts, the narrator exposes the problems caused by factory farming, namely animal suffering, the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, slavery-like working conditions in slaughterhouses and the unfolding antibiotic crisis. To inspire a hopeful outlook for a brighter future, the movie shows examples of alternative farming practices that are planet- and animal-friendly.
The movie is screened in English and German with subtitles in English, German and French.
